The Department of Engineering and Land Management traces its history back to 1968, when it was founded as the Department of Equipment, Automatics and Public Catering Automation. In 1997, the division was merged with the Department of General Technical Disciplines and Physics, resulting in formation of the Department of Engineering and Technical Disciplines. The new structure had a broader profile, providing teaching of disciplines for students of the entire university. In 2021, the department was joined by specialists in architecture and design engineers, which led to expansion of educational activities by including disciplines of architectural focus (architecture, urban planning, design). Accordingly, the unit was renamed into the Department of Design and Engineering. In 2024, a staff renewal was carried out – specialists in the field of geodesy and land surveying joined the department, which allowed to expand its educational areas and profile. In response to changes in scientific-pedagogical staff and educational profile, the department was renamed into «Design, Engineering and Land Management». However, due to significant expansion of educational areas and increase in amount of staff, a decision has been made to divide the department. Some of scientific-pedagogical staff remained responsible for training specialists in the field of design, while others gained responsibility to train specialists in engineering, geodesy, cadastre, and HoReCa. This separation allowed both departments to focus more clearly on core disciplines, optimize curricula, and improve the quality of educational process. Since June 2025, the department has been called «Engineering and Land Management», which now provides training for specialists in the specialty "Geodesy and Land Management", clearly reflecting its current mission. The mission of the department is vocational training of highly qualified specialists in the field of engineering, land management and geodesy, capable of making responsible engineering decisions on the basis of sustainable development, integrated land management and biodiversity conservation, using modern technologies and international standards. The department is a graduating subdivision responsible for professional training by specialties:
