General Information

KNUTE representatives took part in the “Protected Consumer – Competitive Business – Ukraine’s European Choice” All-Ukrainian Forum, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine on 20th April.

The event drew representatives of state bodies of both legislative and executive branches of power, public organizations, businesspeople, professional associations, etc., including:

  • Stepan Kubiv, the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade;
  • Olena Sotnyk, Ukrainian MP, the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Issues of European Integration;
  • Volodymyr Lapa, the Head of State Food Safety and Consumer Protection Service;
  • Nataliia Prytulska,  the first KNUTE Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work;
  • Matthias Halder, the Project Manager of EU4Business/FORBIZ.

N. Prytulska spoke on the necessity of setting an effective consumer protection system and coordination of actions of the system elements. Moreover, it is still crucial to make sure consumers get informed on the results of the state surveillance and control in the consumer market in order to minimize consumption risks, and to introduce preventive approaches in order to forestall violations of consumer rights.

The following issues were discussed during the Forum:

  • the current state of consumer protection field in Ukraine;
  • ‘state-consumer-business’ interests balance as a prerequisite of European integration processes in Ukraine;
  • reforms of the legislation and control systems in the consumer protection field;
  • self-regulation in Ukraine with the consumer in the heart of the system;
  • market surveillance practices in EU countries;
  • cash-free payments: the current situations and prospects.

The organizations, set and functioning at KNUTE, such as the All-Ukrainian Movement “Youth for Consumer Rights”, the Training and Consulting Centre on Consumer Protection and the Centre of International Private, Commercial and Civil Law presented the results of their performance at the Forum.

Hopefully, this event will let join the efforts of the state, business and public in search of effective solutions and taking measures that will become the basis of creating new, quality consumer policy in Ukraine.
