The National Institute for Strategic Studies is a partner of SUTE in training competitive specialists of the new generation. The fruitful cooperation between the two partners is implemented in the educational process, training of highly qualified personnel, joint research, scientific and practical conferences and a number of other areas. An important component of the implementation of partnership relations is the holding of guest lectures for higher education students by experts of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

On 23 February 2024, the Department of Economics and Competition Policy organised a guest lecture on "Building a resilient economic foundation for Ukraine's victory" by Yaroslav Zhalilo, Deputy Director – Head of the Centre for Economic and Social Studies of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Doctor of Economics, Senior Research Fellow, Honoured Economist of Ukraine.

The lecturer offered the audience an interesting and dynamic format of work. At the beginning of the lecture, Dr Yaroslav systematised the consequences of Russia's full-scale aggression both for the functioning of the economy and for the resilience of other spheres of public life, outlined the directions of economic policy implementation and analysed macroeconomic risks under martial law. The lecturer drew attention to the fact that the prospects for sustainable development of Ukraine's economy are associated with the implementation of a number of competitive advantages, including the potential of a number of areas and sectors of the national economy, deepening the level of processing of raw materials, low production costs of a number of goods and services. The lecturer focused the audience's attention on the ability of Ukrainian enterprises to integrate into global value chains and produce a range of products that are competitive on world markets.

At the end of the lecture, the students had the opportunity to ask questions about the prospects for maintaining macroeconomic resilience, creating prospects for the economy to reach a sustainable growth trajectory, and the prospects for strengthening the institutional capacity of state institutions.

The event was attended by students, postgraduates and academic staff of SUTE.

Module 3 and 4 of trainings "EU Economic Resilience Policy"

From January 10th to 29th, 2024, Modules 3 and 4 of the "EU Economic Resilience Policy" trainings took place at SUTE online. Over 160 individuals from various regions of Ukraine participated, including students (from SUTE and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), academic staff and postgraduates from Ukrainian universities (specifically from SUTE, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies named after S. Z. Gzhytsky, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv), Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, Academy of Financial Management (Kyiv), Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Zaporizhzhia National University, Odessa National Polytechnic University, Sumy State University), as well as representatives from the business community and state institutions.

Within the project, trainers Diana Shkurpadska and Larysa Lebedeva (Department of Economics and Competition Policy), Volodymyr Tokar (Department of Software Engineering and Cybersecurity), and Alina Boiko (Department of Public Administration) discussed the conceptual principles of economic resilience, as well as fiscal, social, monetary, trade, and investment policies of the EU and plans for recovery and resilienceof EU and Ukraine.

Following each session, participants actively discussed problematic issues related to ensuring economicresilience, such as fiscal stimulus measures, development prospects of the Visegrad Group in the face of global changes, measures to enhance Ukrainian cohesion, effectiveness of Ukraine's monetary policy in times of crisis, and instruments for implementing the Ukraine Recovery Plan.

Guest Lecture "Economic Resilience of Ukraine in the Face of Shock Impacts" by Ivan Us, PhD, Chief Consultant at the Center for Foreign Policy Studies at the National Institute for Strategic Studies

On November 23, 2023, guest lecture on the topic "Economic Resilience of Ukraine in the Face of Shock Impacts" was held. The lecturer was Ivan Us, PhD, a renowned expert-analyst, chief consultant of the Center for Foreign Policy Studies at the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

During the lecture, the speaker identified strategic directions for the development of Ukraine's economy in the context of shock impacts and global challenges. The esteemed expert emphasized that the prospects for the development of the Ukrainian economy are linked to the implementation of a range of unique competitive advantages, forming the basis for the formation of our country's export potential. This includes not only the agricultural sector, natural resources, logistical opportunities, and low production costs for certain goods but also the prospects for integrating Ukrainian enterprises into global value chains in the production of high-tech goods.

Despite the scale and wide range of issues discussed, the lecturer successfully presented the analytical material in an accessible format for the audience, using statistical data, interesting examples, and generalizations. At the end of the lecture, participants had the opportunity to receive answers to a series of questions.

Yurii Umantsiv, the head of the Department of Economics and Competition Policy, highlighted the relevance of the issues covered during the lecture and expressed gratitude to Mr. Us for conducting it. The event was attended by over 100 participants, including students, postgraduates, and academic staff of the Department of Economics and Competition Policy.

Guest lecture "Economic Recovery of Ukraine: Priority Areas in the Context of Ukraine Facility" by Maxim Fedoseienko, Head of Strategic Projects at Kyiv School of Economics

On September 22, 2023,  guest lecture on "Economic Recovery of Ukraine: Priority Areas in the Context of the Ukraine Facility" was held. The lecturer was a well-known analyst, consultant to public authorities, one of the coordinators of working groups on cooperation between the state and the business sector in the preparation of plans for the development of strategic sectors of the economy within the framework of the EU support program "Ukraine Facility", Head of Strategic Projects of the Kyiv School of Economics Maxim Fedoseienko.

The lecturer offered the audience an interesting and dynamic format of work. Mr. Fedoseinko outlined strategic directions of Ukraine's economic development in the context of implementing the post-war reconstruction. The lecturer drew attention to the fact that the prospects for the development of the Ukrainian economy are associated with the realization of a number of unique competitive advantages, including the potential of the agricultural sector, natural resources, extensive logistics capabilities, low production costs of a range of goods and services, the ability to integrate into global value chains in the production of batteries, renewable energy equipment, critical materials, chemical products, etc. Ukraine's human capital, which is competitive by global standards, deserves special attention. Despite the complexity of the issues discussed, the lecturer managed to present the analytically rich material in the most accessible format, using a wide range of statistics, facts, interesting examples and generalizations. At the end of the lecture, the audience had the opportunity to hear answers to a number of questions.

The event was attended by more than 100 participants, including students, postgraduates and SUTE academic staff.

Webinar "Directions of the Post-War Economic Recovery in Ukraine" by Oleg Pendzyn, Executive Director of the Economic Discussion Club

On September 12, 2023, the Department of Economics and Competition Policy organized a webinar on the topic "Directions of the Post-War Economic Recovery in Ukraine". Oleg Pendzyn, a renowned analyst and an expert-practitioner with extensive experience in both public sector and non-governmental organizations, who serves as the Executive Director of the Economic Discussion Club hosted the webinar. Yurii Umantsiv, the Head of the Department of Economics and Competition Policy gave the opening remarks. Oleksandr Miniailo, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Psychology delivered a welcome speech to the participants.

From the very beginning of the webinar, Oleg Pendzyn introduced an engaging and dynamic format of discussion. The speaker outlined a wide range of issues related to the post-war economic recovery of Ukraine, including macroeconomic stabilization, the balance of state finances, government debt strategy, exchange rate policy, exports and imports, the consumer market, entrepreneurship stimulation, the development of the military-industrial sector, prospects for cooperation with international partners, and the adaptation of global experience to Ukrainian realities. Participants of the webinar received comprehensive answers to various questions related to the prospects of Ukraine's economic recovery.

More than 200 participants, took part in the webinar including students, postgraduates, and academic staff of the Department of Economics and Competition Policy at SUTE.
