Guest Lecture: "Development of Sustainable Financing. Increasing the Resilience of the Financial System to the Impact of ESG Factors"

General Information

With the support of the Department of Banking at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, a guest lecture was held on May 15, 2025, on the topic "Development of Sustainable Financing. Increasing the Resilience of the Financial System to the Impact of ESG Factors". The event was attended by 67 higher education students and 8 faculty members.

The guest speaker was Anton Khoroshukha, Deputy Head of the Department of Risk Assessment Methodology and Organization of Risk Management Systems in Banks and Banking Groups at the Department of Methodology for Regulation of Bank Activities of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The topic of sustainable financing is currently of great relevance worldwide. As Ukraine’s financial system integrates into the global space, it is essential to adopt and implement international standards and directives. As a representative of the regulator, Mr. Khoroshukha shared the achievements of the National Bank of Ukraine in enhancing the system's resilience to ESG factors.

Key topics of the lecture included the nature of ESG factors, the development of risk matrices, indicators for their assessment and mitigation, and the rules for forming financial and non-financial reporting for companies and banks. Particular emphasis was placed on changes in credit mechanisms in response to environmental risks. The lecture also offered a comparative analysis of the achievements of central banks worldwide in ESG risk regulation and highlighted the main principles of the “White Paper on Managing ESG Risks in the Financial Sector.”
