Training “Grant Opportunities for Researchers” at the State University of Trade and Economics

General Information

To familiarize academic and research staff with international grant programs, the training “Grant Opportunities for Researchers” was held on November 6, 2025, at the State University of Trade and Economics (SUTE).

The event was opened by Larysa Lebedeva, Head of the Grant Projects Department at SUTE, who presented the practical aspects of two-factor authentication on the FTOP portal and provided recommendations for obtaining convenient and secure access to the grant application submission system.

Iryna Horokholinska, representative of the National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe Programme in Ukraine, spoke about the current calls of the 2025 Work Programme for Cluster II “Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society” within Horizon Europe. Ms. Horokholinska shared insights into the specifics of Cluster ІІ calls and offered guidance on finding partners for building effective consortia.

Anzhelika Gerasymenko, Vice-rector for Research, Pedagogical Activities and International Relations  at SUTE, shared her practical experience in preparing and implementing projects under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education strand. She emphasized the specifics of Erasmus+ calls, as well as the challenges and opportunities of grant activity in Ukraine during wartime.

Iryna Honcharova, Associate Professor of the Department of Commodity Science and Pharmacy, shared her experience with Swedish Institute programmes, focusing on practical aspects of preparing grant applications. Prof. Honcharova presented her winning 2025 project, “Development of sustainable technologies for water and wastewater treatment using biosorbents,” implemented in a consortium with eight partners from Sweden, Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine.

The training concluded with a presentation by Dina Fedorova, Professor of the Department of Restaurant and Craft Technologies, who introduced the Team Finland Knowledge (TFK) calls for Ukraine. These initiatives open new opportunities for academic mobility and international scientific cooperation. Prof. Fedorova shared her own successful experience of participation in the competition and presented the 2025 project “Nutrition Science and Food Technology Alliance: Building Sustainable Academic Pathways with Ukraine,” implemented jointly by SUTE and the University of Helsinki (Finland).

The participants emphasized the practical value, relevance, and informativeness of the training and appreciated the useful recommendations on preparing grant proposals for Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and national competitions of European countries.
