Guest lecture by Alona Shmygel, a researcher at the Geneva School of Economics and Management of the University of Geneva

General Information

As part of the training of master's and bachelor's degree students at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, with the assistance of the Department of Banking, a lecture on the topic "Economics of State Mortgage Subsidy Programmes" was held on November 14, 2025. The expert lecture was given by Alona Shmygel, a researcher of the Geneva School of Economics and Management of the University of Geneva, a graduate of SUTE in the EP "Financial Intermediation". Representatives of the Vinnytsia Institute of Trade and Economics of the SUTE also joined the lecture.

During the lecture, the students were introduced to the basic principles of the functioning of the mortgage market, the trajectories of the mortgage market under the influence of key factors. They also discussed the role of government support in fundamental changes in both the mortgage market and the lending activities of banks.  The lecturer emphasized the positive and negative international experience of implementing mortgage subsidy programmes, highlighting parallels with the domestic eOselia programme and noting how it can be applied in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The lecture was extremely important within the framework of studying the courses "Credit Management", "Financial Services Market" and "Banking Operations".

The lecture was held in an interactive form, with solving a practical case and completing a survey on key questions using the online tool Wooclap and a detailed explanation of the falsity or truthfulness of each answer.

We sincerely thank Ms. Alona for an extremely interesting and inspiring lecture!
