Open Lecture on “Decoding Inflation: What We Know and What Remains a Mystery”
General Information
An open lecture in English was held online on May 6, 2026. It was delivered by Oleksandr FARYNA, Head of the Research Division of the Monetary Policy and Economic Analysis Department of the National Bank of Ukraine, for students of the English-taught bachelor’s programme “Financial Business” of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, specialty 072 “Finance, Banking, Insurance and the Stock Market,” with the support of the Department of Banking. Lecturers and students of Vinnytsia Institute of Trade and Economics of SUTE also joined the event.
The event focused on the essence of inflation, the reasons for its emergence, and the practical principles of its regulation in Ukraine and other countries around the world. Students learned about the historical development of this phenomenon, from the Great Depression to the present day, and examined the impact of various economic indicators on inflationary processes. The speaker answered numerous questions from lecturers and students regarding the forecast level of inflation in Ukraine and the tools used by the NBU to reduce it.
