Forum "Restoration of the territories affected as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation (on the example of Kyiv region)"

General Information

On May 03, 2023, the forum "Restoration of the affected territories as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation (on the example of Kyiv region)" was held at the State University of Trade and Economics. The event was co-organized by the State organization “V. Mamutov Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”.

About 70 members of the academic community, civil servants, and representatives of civil society attended the Malachite Hall of the L block, and the same number of visitors watched the expert discussion on the ZOOM platform and on the University's YouTube channel.

The event was opened by Anatolii MAZARAKI, Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Serhiy TARUTA, Member of Parliament of Ukraine, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Development of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Ella LIBANOVA, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the Ptukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, presented her own vision of the post-war revival of the Kyiv suburbs.

The discussion took place in the light of the latest changes in national legislation - the definition of the "recovery area" and the best international experience - the introduction of a special investment regime. The key provisions on the study of these issues were formulated by scientists of the State Institution "Mamutov Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" Volodymyr USTYMENKO, Director, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Professor, Inna ZABLODSKAZ, Head of the Department of Interregional Cooperation, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Yulia ROGOZYAN, Deputy Head of the Department of Interregional Cooperation, Doctor of Economics, Senior Researcher.

The forum was also attended by representatives of local governments and civil society, which made it possible to consider a wide range of practical issues of district recovery.

Danylo MAVLIANOV, Head of Bucha District State Administration of Kyiv Region, and Oleksiy DANCHIN, Head of Vyshhorod District State Administration of Kyiv Region, analyzed the state of development and urgent problems of the most affected regions of Kyiv Region. Kostiantyn NIZHEIKO, Chairman of the International Association for the Future of Ukraine, 3rd year postgraduate student of the world economy department, spoke about digital transformation as an important tool for increasing the investment attractiveness of territories.

The State University of Trade and Economics has become a platform where science, education, local government and civil society have been able to combine for the sake of regional development. Memorandums of cooperation and interaction were signed between Bucha District State Administration and the District Council, the Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the NAS of Ukraine and SUTE, and between Vyshgorod District State Administration and SUTE to formalize official intentions of cooperation. This format of cooperation will become a reliable foundation for developing a holistic and balanced model for the revival and development of Kyiv region for the next 5 years.

Anatolii MAZARAKI summarized the results of the forum, expressed his gratitude to all the participants for their active participation and noted that the University will continue to discuss relevant interdisciplinary issues of regional revival of Ukraine.
