Blood Donor Days: KNUTE Remains the Leader in Blood Donor Movement

From the 22nd till 25th of March 2016 Blood Donor Days charity event was arranged in KNUTE. Since blood compatibility was discovered it has become possible to use donor blood for saving people’s lives. Multiple studies conducted by scientists from all over the world aimed at creating blood substitute did not bring results. Human blood cannot be substituted by anything else. That’s why donors remain the only alternative for saving lives. Nowadays one can hardly count people whose lives were saved because of donor blood.
The number of blood donors in Ukraine has reduced by a million for the last 20 years and at present there are about 800 000 of them. According to the World Health Organization the recommended blood dose for one person in a country is 12-15 milliliters, but we have only 9 in Ukraine.
Thanks to deep concern of KNUTE students and employees, the University has always been the leader in blood donor movement in Kyiv and this year we did a good job as well.
