Ukrainian Culinary Union Team Won Top Places at the 10th International Culinary Competition of Southern Europe

General Information

On 3-6 March 2017 a team of the Ukrainian Culinary Union headed by the director N. Vedmid participated in the 10th International Culinary Competition of Southern Europe, Thessaloniki, Greece. It consisted of 11 people, including three KNUTE students - Victoriia Naumenko, Nataliia Nishchenko and Oleksandr Hrytsenko, and KNUTE lecturers - Myroslava Bosovska, Mariia Kulyk and Oksana Poltavska.

This grand culinary event brought together over 500 participants from 20 countries. It was attended by over 10000 visitors from around the world. The participants competed in 40 different categories of individual and team competitions. The work of the competitors and works of art class was assessed by over 40 professional jury members from all over the world.

The work of the competitors was judged by a very respectable and recognized jury, consisting of world-famous chefs from Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Turkey and Macedonia. The result was the successful performance of our team that won three silver medals and a bronze one. Students O.Hrytsenko and N.Nishchenko were awarded silver medals (2nd place) in the Fish nomination. V. Naumenko received a bronze medal (3rd place) participating in The Greek National BBQ nomination. Victoriia Naumenko also received a silver medal and a valuable gift for winning in the Shawarma sponsors nomination

On behalf of the Ukrainian Culinary Union we want to thank KNUTE students - Victoriia Naumenko, Nataliia Nishchenko and Oleksandr Hrytsenko for the initiative, hard work and creative approach to the culinary arts, promotion of the Ukrainian contemporary cuisine at the international level; KNUTE teachers - N. Vedmid, M. Kravchenko, V. Kocherha, M. Bosovska for inspired and tireless work in educating winners - young and talented masters of confectionery art in Ukraine and abroad.

At the Closing Ceremony Director of the Ukrainian Culinary Union N. Vedmid presented Ukrainian Culinary Union certificates and memorable gifts to the president of the Hellenic Chefs’ Association of Northern Greece George Mastrodimitris, Minister of Tourism of Greece Elena Koutoura, and President of the Organizing Committee Christos Gkotsis. On behalf of the UCU President Anatolii Mazaraki she handed invitations to the Ukrainian Festival BestCookFest-2017 to be held in October 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Congratulations to the Ukrainian Culinary Union and students of the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics on the performance and victory! Keep it up, dear awardees!
