Lecture by Professor Hendrikus Donners on Problems of the European Integration of Ukraine into the European Community

General Information

On March 10, 2017 a lecture by Professor Hendrikus Donners on problems of the European integration of Ukraine into the European community was held for FITL and FEMP students.

The professor told about the features of staying in the European community aptly, using simple examples that were understandable to students; held quiz for students to see their knowledge of EU member states and handed small gifts to those who could answer his simple but unusual questions. Students loved that very much!

Henk Donners studied at the universities of Tilburg, Cologne, and graduated from the Sorbonne. He has a PhD degree. From 1977 he worked in the Government of the Netherlands. For more than 15 years he has been involved in the development of recommendations for the implementation of the EU legal framework in Ukraine, particularly in the preparation of the Tax Code of Ukraine, worked as an advisor to the Government of Ukraine on taxation.

Henk Donners is engaged in charity, patronizes cultural and educational projects in Ukraine. Thanks to his help a high school was reconstructed and equipped with its computer lab and a chemical laboratory; hospitals in Mlyniv town the city of Rivne received new medical equipment and instruments. Orphanages of Mlyniv, Brody, Sarny and Kyiv also get assistance from Dr. Donners.

For his outstanding achievements he was awarded the Order Orange-Nassau (one of the highest awards of the Netherlands, introduced in 1892) and dubbed a knight.

In conclusion, the students were given the opportunity to ask the professor different questions. All the responses were valued for their clarity. Many answers were given with examples that were close to students, related to their lives, well known places and events in Ukraine. The meeting was useful for students who already have their own business – they exchanged business cards discussing the possibility of further cooperation. At the end of the lecture the students thanked the professor and invited him to the next meeting!

Henk Donners launches lectures for KNUTE students; he wants to consider urgent issues of European integration of Ukraine into the European community, improvement of business management, self-management, time management etc.
