At the moment, pumpkin is the most popular vegetable in Ukraine, used both to cook dishes and decorate the interior. In KNUTE, the pumpkin was also used to the maximum. The festival involved culinary competition, thematic table decorating contest, a pumpkin carving master-class and a charity fair.

N. Prytulska, the first vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, S. Shapoval, vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, S. Melnychenko, vice-rector for scientific work, V. Sai, vice rector for scientific, pedagogical work and international relations, attended the festival.

Representatives of the culinary club consisting of 8 teams took part in the culinary contest. Each team had to cook 2 dishes: main course and dessert. The quality of dishes was evaluated by the honorary jury:

• Oleksandr Kosar, Managing Director of Kozyrna Karta Restaurant Family;
• Liubov Chunitska, the international level judge, chief technologist of Fishka LLC;
• Tetiana Zabigailo, the judge of international culinary competitions and KNUTE Education and Production Association director;
• Dmytro Sokur, Volodymyr Soviak, 4^th-year students, members of the culinary club.

The friendship won the Festival and all the teams got prize-winning places in various nominations:

• First prize went to “Harbuzovyi Bum”/"Pumpkin boom" and "garbozon.com";
• Second prize was shared by “Chiorna Nich”/"Black Night", "Pumkkins" and "COOKies";
• Third prize went to “Trio Mix”, “Trio Harbuz’/“Pumpkin Trio” and “Kulinarnyi Korpus”/“Culinary Corps”.

Seven teams competed in thematic Jack-o'-Lantern table decorating contest, but they all impressed with the excellent décor. The places were distributed in the following way:

• First place was shared by "Funky Pumpky" and "Pumpkins witches";
• Second place went to “Prymary Salemu”/"Ghosts of Salem" and "Mavky (Water Nymphs)";
• Third place was shared by “Lisova Pisnia”/"Forest song", “Harbuziabryky”, “Keltski Posydenky”/“Celtic holidays”.

Finally, at the charity fair, you could try a large number of pumpkin dishes, and, what is more important, help the children from the orphanage, because all the funds passed to Nadiya orphanage.

Festival guests were interested in the pumpkin carving master-class, which was given by Dmytro Ladariev, KNUTE first-year the student. The participants saw that the pumpkin could become a real masterpiece.

The fest was a real success! We expect it to become a traditional one.
