Results of V International BestCookFest-2018 Competition of Restaurant Technologies

General Information

On October 4-6, 2018, the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics hosted a unique event of the culinary world – V International BESTCookFEST-2018 competition of restaurant technologies.

The event was organized by the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics in cooperation with the Ukrainian Culinary Union public association and the Aegean Professional Association of Chefs (EPAD, Turkey). The event was held for the experienced professionals in the restaurant industry and beginners who are eager to develop, to master professional competencies and practical skills, to enrich their experience in culinary and confectionery.

The opening ceremony of the festival was held on the 4th of October at the KNUTE Congress Hall. It welcomed the representatives of the University administration (N. Prytulska, S. Shapoval, V. Sai, S. Melnychenko),  L. Radchenko, Vice-President of the Ukrainian Culinary Union, Sefer Yapidgi, President of the Aegean Professional Association of Chefs EPAD (Turkey), Ivan Liptuha, President of the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine, Yönet Can Tezel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine, Marek Safin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Ukraine and delegations of the Bratislava School of Economics and Management, representatives of national professional associations of chefs of Turkey, Mongolia, Mauritius, Great Britain, Denmark, Albania, Israel, Serbia, Malta, Croatia, Bulgaria, Mexico, Iceland, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Ukrainian Culinary Union, partners, competitors and guests.

Participation of professionals proves the high status of the event, provides a high professional level of culinary competitions refereeing and promotes the strengthening of friendly relations between the culinary communities of Ukraine and other countries.

During the opening ceremony of the V International BestCookFest-2018 Competition of Restaurant Technologies, a total number of 901 people gathered in the KNUTE Congress Hall, dressed in special chef jackets. According to the calculations, KNUTE and the Ukrainian Culinary Union public association entered the National Register of Records of Ukraine, which is testified by the corresponding certificate.

More than 200 participants from 10 countries all over the world took part in the competition: Turkey, Germany, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, China, Belarus and Ukraine. They competed in 22 nominations in the culinary and confectionery art, restaurant service.

108 participants of the competition took part in 9 individual nominations: "Vegetarian Dish", "Meat Dish", "Poultry Meat Dish", "Modern Cuisine", "Pasta", "Fish Dish", "Authentic Cuisine", "Restaurant Dessert" and "Carving". 23 teams of professional chefs and beginners competed for the championship cups.

Within the framework of the V International BestCookFest-2018 Competition of Restaurant Technologies, a number of other events were held: parade of chefs, Borshch Fest (competition of culinary teams for cooking borshch), BBQ-feast, workshops from members of the judicial staff, LiveCookingShow and others. All the participants and guests noted, that was not just a culinary event, but a real culinary holiday, where everyone could taste national borshch and barbecue dishes cooked according to the unique recipes from different regions of Ukraine.

The LiveCookingShow professional workshops were organized by members of the judicial staff.

The event was held with the assistance of BestCookFest-2018 partners:

• Ibis Kyiv Center etc.

It’s necessary to convey sincere gratitude to Halyna Loseva (Trypillya restaurant and hotel complex director), Liubov Chunytska and Tetiana Zabihailo for introducing foreign guests with national Ukrainian cuisine, Anatolii Mazaraki, KNUTE Rector, for inspiring BestCookFest-2018, popularizing culinary art, and the developing international partnership, KNUTE administration and staff, and all co-organizers and partners of the festival, and all those who contributed to the success of the international culinary event.
