KNUTE Students at III Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires
General Information
In honour of the III Summer Youth Olympics hosted in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, from 6 till 18 October, a festive farewell ceremony for Ukrainian athletes was arranged. 55 strongest young men are going to compete in 22 kinds of sport.
206 countries will send at least one athlete to compete in the Games which is in total 3998 young athletes aged 15-18 competing for 1250 medals in 32 sports.
2 KNUTE students are competing in 3×3 basketball:
Illia Zaiets – FITL, 1,17;
Oleksandr Sydoruk – FTM, 1,12.
In the first match with Andorra our guys got 22:5 win. After the first match day, Ukraine along with New Zealand tops B Group.
In their second match U-18 men’s team in 3×3 basketball beat Brazilian team winning 22 : 15. According to the results Illia Zaiets – 5 points, Oleksandr Sydoruk4 points.
Next matches of our team will take place on 12th October against Venezuela (17:00) and New Zealand (19:30).
We sincerely congratulate our basketball players on such a tremendous success at the III Summer Youth Olympics as well as their coach, senior instructor of Physical Education Department, D.S.Yeltsov.
