SUTE at the Strategic Management School of the Polish Rectors' Foundation

General Information

The School is organised within the framework of the Programme of Continuous Improvement of University Management in the framework of the strategic partnership with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland. The project aims at the cooperation of Rectors of Polish and Ukrainian HEIs in the issues of improving university management taking into account the principles and freedoms of the academic community and finding an optimal balance between self-governance and governance in higher education.

Coordination between Ukraine and Poland in the field of educational and research activities has a long history thanks to the Polish-Ukrainian cooperation project of representative organizations of rectors for the improvement of higher education institutions with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland. The aim of this project is to improve the fundamentals of management processes in universities in both countries and to enhance the competence of the governing bodies, in particular rectors and vice-rectors, through a number of specific initiatives of cooperation in higher education between the National Conferences of Rectors of Poland and Ukraine and the Polish Rectors' Foundation.

This year the XXVI School is dedicated to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Foundation of Polish Rectors and had a format of panel discussions with the participation of rectors of the Polish and Ukrainian HEIs. The participants considered such issues as: the activities of ZHE to help Ukraine; the needs and perspectives connected with the reform of the higher education system in Ukraine; financing ZHE in perspective by 2024; university management in crisis conditions; and administrative bodies that have an impact on universities' activities. The event was attended by around 40 representatives of Polish universities.

Dean of the Faculty of International Trade and Law Honcharova Y.A. took part in a panel discussion on the needs of Ukrainian higher education institutions from 10 to 13 July, where she described the current situation in higher education in Ukraine during the war. The report highlighted the cooperation between Ukraine and Poland regarding joint strategic directions of development of higher education institutions in both countries and thanked representatives of the Polish Republic for their active position in cooperation with Ukraine and assistance during the war with the Russian aggressor.

The School will generate the efforts of both countries in the field of education, identify areas for cooperation, and learn from the experience of Polish colleagues in organising higher education in Poland.
