European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) is a scholarly association centred on the study of "media, (tele)communications and informatics research, including relevant approaches of human and social sciences". It strives to promote quality of communication research and teaching in higher education across Europe. It counts more than 2700 individuals as members. At present, ECREA's legal seat is located in Brussels, Belgium.

ECREA is a learned society of communication scholars devoted to development of communication research and higher education in Europe. ECREA is organised into 25 thematic Sections, each developing a distinctive field of communication studies, 4 Temporary Working Groups which focus on emerging or underrepresented fields within media and communication studies, and 3 permanent Networks representing specific socio-demographic categories of scholars.

Building an inclusive European community in the communication and educational environment is in the limelight of ECREA’s research.
