SUTE participated in the 25th General Assembly and the election of the President of the European University Association (EUA)
General Information
On April 19-21, the State University of Trade and Economics had the honor to attend the 25th General Assembly of the Association of European Universities (EUA) in Gdansk (Poland) and for the first time take part in the election of the EUA President as a full individual member of the Association.
As a result of the meeting on April 20, 2023, a new EUA President was elected, Professor Josep M. Garrell, formerly Rector of the Ramon Llull University (Barcelona, Spain).
Oleksiy Kulikov, Vice Rector for Scientific, Pedagogical and Administrative Affairs, acted as the Rector's authorized representative. In addition to the election of the new EUA President, the following issues were considered and discussed:
- banking sector support for the development of higher education institutions;
- digital transformation being positively viewed by universities, but the topic has many facets from student wellbeing to cybersecurity. Digitalisation can widen participation and foster inclusivity but gaps in digital competence can cause it to exclude certain staff and student segments:
- supporting the higher education sector in Ukraine in the long term as well as shift in priorities from rapid relief & mobility to structured co-operation and transfer of best practices - with the aim to avoid brain-drain in Ukraine;
- an opportunity to establish links with European colleagues;
