During the course, Mr. Iain Potter shared his experience and provided recommendations to the community of the State University of Trade and Economics on how to become a successful expert in the field of loss assessment, talked about models of loss assessment, and also explained the difference between direct and indirect loss assessment. An interesting addition to the lectures was the analysis of damage assessment using real case studies.

The following issues were also discussed during the course: Using discounted cash flow models to assess damages. Developing projections for discounted cash flow models; Common monetary remedies in intellectual property disputes. Quantification issues in intellectual property disputes; Intellectual property infringement and the assessment of remedies; Business valuation fundamentals for damages; M&A disputes and the assessment of diminution in value; Discount rates and risk. Introduction to the 'modern DCF' method; Expropriation and the assessment of compensation.

At the end of the course, participants who attended 90% of classes received certificates, and those participants whose final exam score was rated at a high level received certificates with the mark “passed with distinction”.
