Roundtable Discussion «The Role of Public Policy in Ensuring Economic Resilience»

General Information

As the final event of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project «EU Economic Resilience Policy» (EUERP), and following a series of online training sessions, a roundtable discussion «The Role of Public Policy in Ensuring Economic Resilience» was held on April 21, 2025, at the State University of Trade and Economics (SUTE).

The roundtable aimed to explore the potential of public policy instruments in promoting economic resilience.

The event brought together over 50 participants, including scholars, entrepreneurs, public servants, and students from across Ukraine.

The roundtable was opened with a welcome speech by Professor Yurii Umantsiv, Doctor of Sciences in Economics, the Head of Department of Economics and Competition Policy at SUTE. The event was moderated by Associate Professor, coordinator of the EUERP project Larysa Lebedeva, PhD in Economics.

Speakers and their presentations included:

  • Professor Kateryna Nikolaets, Doctor of Sciences in History – «Migration Policy as a Resilience Factor in Wartime Ukraine»;
  • Associate Professor Iryna Shtunder, Doctor of Sciences in Economics – «Innovative Employment as a Factor of National Economic Resilience»;
  • Professor Volodymyr Tokar, Doctor of Sciences in Economics – «How Institutional Quality Determines the Level of Social Resilience in European Countries»;
  • Diana Shkuropadska, PhD in Economics – «Social System Resilience in the Bucharest Nine Countries and Ukraine»;
  • Associate Professor Andrii Shynkovych, PhD in Economics – «Food Security in the System of Geopolitical Resilience»;
  • Associate Professor Kateryna Fedoryshyna, PhD in Political Science – «The Role of Political Regime in Shaping an Effective National Brand Within the Framework of Social Resilience»;
  • Associate Professor Larysa Lebedeva, PhD in Economics – «Changes in Monetary Policy During a Crisis: The EU and Ukraine»;
  • PhD candidate in Economics Aliona Sorokina – «Digitalization of Public Services as a Tool for Ensuring Economic Resilience: Challenges and Prospects»;
  • Associate Professor Alina Boiko, Doctor of Sciences in Economics – «Mechanisms of Ukraine’s Economic Resilience to External Threats and War».

The presentations sparked a lively discussion among participants, emphasizing the need to improve Ukraine’s public economic policy in line with EU standards. These discussions laid the groundwork for the development of recommendations aimed at enhancing the country’s economic policy framework.
