A Roundtable discussion about the problems of Food industry of Ukraine development was held in KNUTE

General Information

Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics together with the Association of Ukrainian manufacturers “Ice-cream and frozen foods” organized All Ukrainian roundtable discussion “Food industry of Ukraine: modern condition, problems and perspectives of development", that was held on February, 20, 2015. The aim of this event was to discuss the modern condition and current questions of the problems of Food industry of Ukraine development, problems of harmozation of national normative documents of the branch according to European demands, and ways of development and tasks for food enterprises for 2015. 

With the welcome speech to guests and participants addressed First Vice-Rector for Scientific-Pedagogical Work of KNUTE Nataliia Prytulska, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, President of the Ukrainian Federation of Consumers ”PULSE” and President of the Association of Ukrainian manufacturers “Ice-Cream and Frozen Foods” Bartkovskiy Igor.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Institute of Food Resources, State Enterprise "Ukrainian Scientific, Research and Training Center of Standardization, Certification and Quality", State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, National Association of Meat and Meat Food of Ukraine "Ukrmyaso", Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine, Odessa National Academy of Food Technologies, National University of Food Technologies.
Also, it was a lot of representatives of leading enterprises of Food industry of Ukraine – ПАТ «Житомирський маслозавод», ПрАТ «Геркулес», ПГО АПВТ “Фірма Ласка”, ТОВ «Ажур Фроузен Фуд», ТОВ «Ласунка», ПрАТ «Хладопром», ТОВ «Пирятинський делікатес», ТОВ ВЗП «Еліка», ТОВ «Frozen Group», ТОВ «Айс Запоріжжя», ТОВ «Dolce Italia», ТОВ «Даніско Україна», ТОВ «Левада», ТОВ «Крона», ТОВ «Водограй продукт», ТОВ «Шафран Еліт», ТОВ «Тернопільський завод швидкозаморожених продуктів», ПП «Vakko» etc.
Representatives from mass media – newspaper «Харчовик», magazines «Брутто», «Мир продуктов», «Мир упаковки», «Food UA», ТОВ „Компанія БІОПРОМ”: «Продукты & Ингредиенты».

President of the Association Bartkovskiy Igor described for all participants of a roundtable discussion the main directions and results of activity of the Association of Ukrainian manufacturers “Ice-Cream and frozen foods”.

Pakholuk Vitalii, Head of the Bureau of Processing of Animal Products and Baby Food of the Food Department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine told about the ways of improving the competitiveness of national products on the national and foreign markets, special aspects of implementation of European standards in Ukraine.

Danusevych Henrih, President of the Latvian Trade Association, EU Trade Adviser, spoke about the purpose and directions of activity of the Latvian Trade Association and ways of promoting of national products on the European market.

Special attention was paid to analysis of volumes of production, export and import of the ice-cream, processed meat, pasta with filling, frozen vegetables and mushrooms, fruits and nuts in Ukraine in 2014, the population structure of consumption of ice-cream in Ukraine, discussed approved regulations for ice-cream and frozen semi-finished products, as well as major areas of the development of Food industry in Ukraine.

Participants of a roundtable discussion “Food industry of Ukraine: modern condition, problems and perspectives of development" resolved:

• to work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Ukraine, State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine with the aim to expand the export of ice-cream and frozen products to markets in the EU and other countries;

• to development of normative and technical standards for improving production technology and quality of ice-cream and frozen food;

• actively participate in legislative activities of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the discussion of draft laws and current laws of Ukraine’s modification; harmonization the DSTU for ice-cream, frozen semi-finished products according to European documents;

• to develop typical technological instruction of soft ice-cream production;

• to organize the All-Ukrainian Ice-Cream Festival (on May,16 and August 24, 2015).

At the end of the roundtable it was develop the recommendations for qualified solving listed problems, including lobbying the interests of enterprises of the Food industry in government, active participation in the preparation of normative acts and laws of Ukraine in the food sector, harmonization of national normative documents according to European requirements.
