of Marketing

   The Department of Marketing conducts active research activities aimed at advancing contemporary marketing theory and practice in the context of the digital transformation of the economy, strengthening the role of branding, digital communications, sustainable development, and innovative marketing solutions. The research outcomes of faculty members, doctoral students, and researchers of the department are systematically published in national and international academic journals, including those indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science scientometric databases, presented at international and national scientific and practical conferences, and implemented in the practical activities of enterprises.

   As of September 1, 2025, the department has developed a strong academic and pedagogical potential, comprising 21 academic staff members, including 4 professors holding Doctor of Sciences degrees; 1 professor holding a Candidate of Sciences degree; 12 associate professors holding Candidate of Sciences degrees; 3 senior lecturers, two of whom hold a PhD in Marketing; and 1 assistant.

   The Department of Marketing provides training of research personnel at the third (PhD) level of higher education. The educational and scientific program “Marketing” is implemented at the department, with its guarantor being the Head of the Department, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Olena S. Bondarenko. As of November 1, 2025, 14 full-time PhD-students were enrolled in the department, which demonstrates the sustainable development of its research capacity. In recent years, at least seven dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy have been defended in one-time specialized academic councils of the university, including in such areas as content marketing and digital branding of trade enterprises, marketing communications and digital technologies, and the development of marketing strategies in the digital environment.

   The research topics of the department’s PhD-students correspond to current trends in marketing science and cover issues of digital and hybrid marketing, brand management, sustainable marketing strategies, digital advertising, internet marketing, B2B and B2C marketing, customer loyalty management, pharmaceutical branding, territorial branding, and others. This thematic focus demonstrates the systemic nature of the department’s research and its alignment with contemporary market challenges.

   The department’s research activities are carried out within the framework of the comprehensive research project No. 0126U002320 “Strategic Management of Brand Technologies in the Context of Market Digital Transformation”. Within this project, the following research areas have been developed:

Digital and hybrid brand technologies in the strategic development of trade enterprises (headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor O. Bondarenko);

Sustainable brand strategies in the context of market digital transformation (headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor T. Kniazieva);

Digital brand management of business structures and territorial entities (headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor K. Yahelska).

   In 2023-2025, the department conducted the research project “Digital Marketing Management”, within which conceptual approaches to digital marketing management were developed, modern tools of digital marketing strategies were substantiated, and the implementation of research results in enterprise activities was ensured. As a result of this project, a doctoral dissertation by T. Iankovets titled “Digital Marketing in the Experience Economy” was prepared and defended.

   An important outcome of the department’s activities is the preparation and publication of textbooks, monographs, and other academic works. In recent years, the department’s faculty have authored textbooks “Strategic Marketing” (by O. S. Bondarenko and T. M. Iankovets) and “Digital Marketing Technologies” (by T. M. Iankovets). In 2025, the monograph “Digital Marketing and Experience Design” was published, along with research results presented in collective monographs. The department also continues to develop new educational and scientific publications as part of its further academic advancement.

   The publication activity of the department is systematic and productive. The university provides opportunities for disseminating research results in professional academic journals. In particular, faculty members, researchers, and doctoral students of the department can publish their findings in journals such as “SCIENTIA FRUCTUOSA” “Foreign Trade: Economics, Finance, Law” and “Commodities and Markets” which contributes to the development of academic publication activity.

   Representatives of the department participate in both one-time and permanent specialized academic councils. In particular, permanent council members include Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor T. Kniazieva (member of councils at Kyiv University of Construction and Architecture and the National University “Kyiv Aviation Institute”) and Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor K. Yahelska (member of the council at the State University of Trade and Economics). Faculty members are also actively involved in one-time councils as chairs, reviewers, and official opponents.

   The academic staff of the department are active participants in the scientific and expert community. They serve on editorial boards of academic journals, including Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor O. Bondarenko, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor T. Kniazieva, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor T. Iankovets, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Professor O. Zaitseva, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor E. Prydatko, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor T. Chunikhina, and also act as reviewers of scientific articles in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.

   The department is integrated into the international scientific and educational space. Faculty members participate in international internships, professional development programs, grant and educational initiatives, including projects related to European educational and research programs, digital transformation of education, and the application of modern technologies in marketing research.

   A traditional platform for the department’s scientific communication is the annual International Scientific and Practical Conference “Brand Management: Marketing Technologies”, which brings together scholars, educators, students, doctoral candidates, business representatives, and marketing practitioners. The conference facilitates discussion of current issues in marketing development, brand management, digital communications, and innovative marketing technologies.

   An important component of the department’s scientific activity is the involvement of higher education students in research work. Students and doctoral candidates participate in conferences, round tables, research competitions, departmental research projects, and other forms of academic communication. The department hosts the Student Experimental Marketing Theatre “Marketing 5.0”, which combines creative forms of professional development with the scientific understanding of modern marketing practices.
